I Am Just So That Into It!

On Friday night, literally the second my boyfriend got off work, I dragged him right out to see new movie He’s Just Not That Into You. He said afterwards that if he had known it was a two-hour-and-nine-minute-long-movie, he never would have agreed to see it. LOL Needless to say, he just wasn’t that into the movie. But I, on the other hand, was! I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! LOVE LOVE LOVED IT! I was practically skipping out of the theatre afterwards, with a huge grin on my face, thinking to myself that movies like HJNTIY are the reason I moved to Hollywood. Movies like that make me want to act. ūüôā I’m not aiming to be the next Meryl Streep and I have no desire to be the darling of the independent film circuit – I just want to make people laugh and walk out of that movie theatre with a big ol’ smile on their face. ūüôā That’s the kind of acting I want to do – and HJNTIY is EXACTLY the kind of movie I hope to someday be a part of. So, in case you didn’t get it the first few times – I LOVED THIS MOVIE! ūüôā

So, yesterday, after I found one of the movie’s filming locations, I, of course, ran right out to stalk it. ūüôā Although the movie is set in the East Coast city of Baltimore, most of the filming took place – of course – in Los Angeles. Only two weeks of filming actually occured in Baltimore and only four of the HJNTIY actors (Bradley Cooper, Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Connelly, and Kevin Connolly) made the trip out to the East Coast. The film’s writers, Marc Silverstein and Abby Kohn, decided to set their story in Baltimore because they had never seen it done before. Most romantic comedies are set in either New York or Los Angeles and Marc and Abby were hoping to shake things up a bit. Since Marc had lived in Baltimore for ten years before moving to L.A. to pursue a screenwriting career, he knew the coastal city well and thought it was the perfect choice to set their story.

But since I couldn’t very well run right out to Baltimore to stalk HJNTIY, I decided to try to find some of the movie’s West Coast locations. I really wanted to stalk the coffee shop where Drew Barrymore met Kevin Connolly towards the end of the movie, but I struck out on that one. Instead, after a bit of Googling, I happened to find these paparazzi photos of Scarlett Johansson and Bradley Cooper filming a scene at a grocery store in Burbank. From there it was just a matter of finding the right grocery store. And sure enough, I did! ūüôā

In real life the grocery store is called Handy Market and it is a very cute and very tiny little shop. According to one of the Handy Market checkers, back in October of 2007 the store was shut down for a full day and a half for the filming of the two short scenes that took place there. Scenes were filmed both inside the store – at the first check-out stand and in a few of the aisles – and outside on the market’s exterior West facing wall.

It’s not hard to see why producers chose to use Handy Market. According to this article about the filming of HJNTIY, director Ken Kwapis said “One of the things that I love about Baltimore is that the texture of the city can be summed-up in one word: brick. The brick textures of the interiors and the exteriors are, to me, so expressive, so distinctive. Being a resident of Baltimore, you may not realize it, but boy, it’s not easy to find a lot of brick in L.A.” LOL Handy’s all-brick exterior must have made it a shoe-in for being used in the movie.

So, for all of you out there who weren’t like me and didn’t catch HJNTIY on opening night, drop what you’re doing and go see it now! I guarantee you so will be that into it! ūüôā

Until next time, Happy Stalking! ūüôā

Stalk It: Burbank’s Handy Market is located at 2514 W. Magnolia Boulevard in – you guessed it! – Burbank. The Home Depot store located at 16800 Roscoe Boulevard in Van Nuys was also used in He’s Just Not That Into You, although I most likely won’t stalk that location. ūüôā My boyfriend would probably be really excited if I did, though. LOL

The He’s Just Not That Into You Movie Premiere

I am currently¬†waiting on pins and needles for the movie¬†He’s Just Not That Into You to hit theatres this upcoming Friday.¬†¬†The New Line Cinema film has all the makings of a hit – it¬†stars my girl Jen and is based on an episode of fave television show Sex and the City.¬†Come on –¬†what more could¬†a girl¬†ask for??¬† ūüôā¬† The “Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little” episode of Sex and the City¬†¬†that featured¬†that now infamous line “He’s¬†just not that into you!”¬†is one of my all-time-favorite episodes.¬† And I absolutely loved the book by¬†SATC¬†creative consultant¬†Greg Behrendt and SATC executive story editor¬†Liz Tuccillo that came out of that episode.¬† I find it absolutely mind boggling that Greg¬†and Liz took one line – one line¬†–¬†from a hit television¬†show¬†and not only turned it into a best-selling self-help book, but¬†also a major motion picture starring numerous A-List celebs.¬† How inspiring!¬† Who knows, maybe one day¬†a hit movie will be¬†created out of a line¬†from one of my blog posts!¬† Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she? ūüôā¬†

According to fave book Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell, the idea behind the line “He’s just not that into you!” came about one morning while a group of SATC writers were sitting around their offices getting ready to start their day.¬† One of the¬†writers was asking for¬†advice about a man she was dating who¬†had been¬†sending her “mixed signals”. Someone happened to ask Greg Behrendt, the only straight male in the room, for¬†his perspective on the matter.¬†¬†And that is when Greg uttered the now ubiquitous line: “He’s just not that into you.”¬† The SATC¬† writers were absolutely intrigued by this line of reasoning and an idea was born.¬†¬†And the rest, as they say, is history!¬†¬†So yesterday when some¬†friends and I stumbled onto the world premiere of¬†He’s Just Not That Into You¬†while grabbing a coffee before our acting class¬†I just about¬†keeled over¬†with excitement!¬† ūüôā¬† ¬†

The premiere was being held at Mann’s Chinese Theatre – the¬†movie house¬†where¬†almost all¬†Hollywood premieres are¬†held –¬†and the red carpet had been set up right in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard.¬†¬†To watch the event fans had to stand on the opposite side of the street behind some steel¬†barriers where the view, unfortunately, was not the best. ¬†As you can see in the above photograph,¬†several large screens were¬†placed every few feet along the length of the¬†red carpet for the actors to pose in front of.¬† Much to my dismay,¬†the screens also majorly blocked our¬†view of all the hoopla.¬† LOL¬†¬†

For some incredibly odd reason I have never watched a premiere before – I know, unbelievable, huh? – so I was extremely excited that my first red carpet event would¬†be starring my girl Jen.¬† ūüôā¬† My friends and I parked ourselves just across the street from the red carpet¬† and it wasn’t long before the celebs started arriving.¬†ūüôā¬†¬† The first star we spotted was Ginnifer Goodwin (pictured above), who I absolutely LOVED in fave movie Win A Date With Tad Hamilton.¬† The bright lights on the red carpet made it really hard for me to take photographs, though, so unfortunately the pics¬†didn’t come out very well.

Next up was Drew Barrymore who is absolutely adorable in person.¬† ūüôā¬† She kept turning around to wave to the crowd and would pop her head in between the red carpet screens to smile at us.¬† She was super, super cute in person and seemed very friendly!¬†¬†And it was right around that time¬†– are you sitting down for this – that my camera died! ¬†I am not kidding!¬† I managed to snap some pics of Drew¬†using my camera phone, but of course they didn’t¬†turn out very well.¬† Let that be a lesson to me¬†– ALWAYS have my camera charged!¬† LOL¬† After¬†my camera died one of my friends¬†said it was a sign that we should leave the premiere and¬†head to our acting class –¬†which we¬†were¬†already almost a half an hour¬†late for.¬† LOL¬† While talking about the fact that we were so late for class the girl standing next to¬†us said that she, too, was missing a class to watch the premiere.¬† LOL¬† ¬†So like the dutiful student that I am,¬†I left the premiere and headed to class – WITHOUT seeing Jen!¬† ūüė¶¬† Yes, you read that right.¬† Now that’s dedication if I’ve ever seen it!¬† LOL¬†

For those of you who have never been, I HIGHLY recommend stalking a red carpet premiere.¬† It was SO MUCH FUN!¬†¬† Even though we had to stand pretty far away, I still felt like we were right in the middle of¬†everything that was happening.¬†¬†Besides Drew and Ginnifer, we also got to see Justin Long and Kevin Connolly. ¬†ūüôā¬† You can see some high quality¬†red carpet pics on this website¬†where¬†it looks like quite a few celebs – including Jennifer Aniston – walked across the street to sign autographs after making their way through the press line.¬† So bummed I missed it!¬† ūüė¶

Until next time, Happy Stalking!¬† ūüôā

Stalk It: Mann’s Chinese Theatre is located at 6925 Hollywood Boulevard smack dab in the middle of Hollywood.¬† You can visit¬†the Mann’s Chinese¬†website to find out about upcoming premieres being held at the famous theatre.¬† The premiere for the new Friday the 13th¬† movie will be taking place there next Monday,¬†February 9th,¬†at 7pm, with the¬†celeb arrivals¬†most likely starting at 6pm.

The Object of My Affection

The Object of My Affection is my least favorite of all¬†the Jennifer Aniston movies.¬† I remember watching it in college and being¬†thoroughly disappointed.¬† I mean,¬†come on, it¬†has to be¬†one of the crappiest movies ever made.¬†¬† But if we’re being honest here, has she ever made a good one?¬† LOL¬† But when¬†the address of Jen’s sister’s house¬†in The Object of My Affection¬† was listed in my new fave book Manhattan On Film: Walking Tours of Hollywood’s Fabled Front Lot, I just had to drag my boyfriend out to stalk it.¬† Good movie or bad, Jen’s still my number one girl!¬† ūüôā

The picturesque brick townhouse showed up only once in the very beginning of The Object of My Affection, as the location where Jen’s wealthy sister and her husband, played by Allison Janney and Alan Alda, throw a lavish dinner party.¬† It is at this party that Jen meets Paul Rudd, a gay man who will soon become her roommate and the ¬†ill suited¬†“object of her affection”.¬† In the movie, Paul and his boyfriend are shown exiting the townhouse and arguing in the street on their way home.

Not only was this townhouse used in The Object of My Affection, but it was also featured briefly in¬†the Season Two episode of¬† Sex and the City¬†entitled “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”.¬† In that ep,¬†in order to take her mind off her recent break-up with Mr. Big, Miranda and the¬†girls¬†decide to take Carrie to a Yankees¬†game.¬†¬†¬†On the way there they pick up Samantha, who is standing outside of the¬†townhouse with her new boyfriend, James.¬† When I watched the episode recently I immediately recognized the building as The Object of My Affection¬† townhouse.¬† ūüôā¬† I get asked quite often how I recognize¬†this stuff and my answer is that I have no idea.¬† LOL¬†¬†When it comes to filming locations, for some reason I have a photographic memory.¬† For the life of me I can never remember where I’ve parked my car in a parking lot,¬†but for some odd reason filming locations are¬†forever branded on my brain.¬† ūüôā

Until next time, Happy Stalking!¬† ūüôā

Stalk It: The Object of My Affection¬† house is located at 15 East 81st Street on New York’s Upper East Side.

I’m Pro Pancake!

Lately¬†I have been obsessed with finding the Chinese food restaurant from one of my fave romantic comedies, A Lot Like Love.¬† While I have yet to find that restaurant, I¬†did¬†stalk¬†two of the others featured in the movie.¬†¬†Towards the middle of A Lot Like Love, Ashton Kutcher shows up at Amanda Peet’s door after just breaking up with his girlfriend, and asks her “What’s your stance on pancakes?”¬† She replies “I’m pro pancake”, and the two head out to Twain’s Restaurant in Studio City for a late breakfast.¬† One of my favorite scenes in the entire movie takes place at Twain’s – the scene where Amanda Peet sticks the drinking straws up her nose to make Ashton laugh.¬† Love it!¬† ūüôā

The next restaurant I¬†stalked is from the very beginning of the movie, which supposedly takes place in New York.¬† When Amanda and Ashton reconnect in NYC after first meeting on¬†an airplane, the two head to a bar in the middle of the day to do some shots and drink some beer.¬†¬†The restaurant where that scene was filmed, Cole’s Pacific Electric Buffet, which is actually located in Los Angeles,¬†has the distinction of being the oldest restaurant and bar in LA.¬† Cole’s opened¬†in 1908 and is a City of Los Angeles Historical Landmark.¬† It¬†has been used in countless TV and movie productions, including Rumor Has It, where it played the San Francisco bar where Kevin Costner seduces Jen Aniston.¬† I am dying to grab a bite to eat¬†at Cole’s, but unfortunately the restaurant has been closed for renovations for the past two years.¬† It is scheduled to reopen in Summer 2008 and as soon as it does, I am going to run right out and stalk it!¬† ūüôā

¬†Until next time, Happy Stalking!¬† ūüôā

Stalk It: Twain’s Restaurant is located at 12905 Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.¬† According to reviews, the pancakes truly are excellent!¬† Cole’s Pacific Electric Cafe is located at 6th and Main in the Pacific Electric Building in Downtown Los Angeles.¬† Cole’s is currently closed for renovations, but is scheduled to reopen this summer.

Il Sole – Jen’s Favorite Restaurant

dscn0329-1.jpgThose of you who are even half as obsessed with¬†Ms. Aniston¬†as I am, have most likely heard of her favorite restaurant, Il Sole.¬† Jen is a regular at¬†the tiny boutique Italian restaurant and has even¬†sat down for¬†a few magazine interviews there.¬† But Jen is not the only one obsessing on the place – it seems everyone who’s anyone has been spotted there.¬† Paparazzi have caught Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie, Brody Jenner, Lauren Conrad, Britney Spears, Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and countless others at the little restaurant.¬† TMZ even¬†went so far as to call¬†Il Sole¬†the “new crack” in a recent article.¬† I’ve never eaten at Il Sole myself – I am more of a chicken strips and ranch dressing kind of girl ūüôā¬†– but I hear it is delicious!!

dscn0331.jpgMy boyfriend and I¬†were¬†on our way to ONE Sunset, another¬†celeb hot spot,¬†on Friday night¬†when we spotted Valerie Bertinelli dining with a balding mystery man at Il Sole.¬† ūüôā ¬†ONE Sunset is the sister restaurant to¬†New York¬†celeb hang out ONE Manhattan and is a major celeb draw.¬† It’s not very hard to see why – the place is incredible!¬† I had never been there before Friday night, but let me tell you – I am for sure going back!¬† ONE is absolutely gorgeous, with flowing silk curtains, huge vases filled with submersed pink flowers, and tabletops covered in candles.¬† And the staff could not have been friendlier!!¬† ONE has a very laid back vibe, even though it is located on the Sunset Strip, which is part of its charm.¬† I absolutely loved it!¬† Jennifer Aniston even hosted a party there last June to¬†honor her good friend Laura Day’s new book release – so you know it has to be a cool place!¬† ūüôā

Until next time, Happy Stalking!¬† ūüôā¬† And enjoy the Hills mini-season premiere tonight!¬† YAY!

Stalk It:  Il Sole is located at the Sunset Plaza at 8730 Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood.  ONE Sunset is located directly across the street from Il Sole, at 8751 Sunset Boulevard.  You will often catch paparazzi hanging outside of Il Sole and ONE Sunset on Friday and Saturday nights waiting for the celebs to show up.  Sunset Plaza is a definite celeb hot spot and you are virtually guaranteed a star sighting in its small two block radius.

Dancing in the Friends’ Fountain!

friends-fountain.jpgI’ve done some pretty cool things in my life, but I must¬†say that one of¬†my favorite and most memorable adventures¬†was dancing in the¬†fountain¬†that was used in¬†the opening credits of Friends!¬† Back in 2002, I¬†attended a seminar put on by my acting school¬†that just happened to be held on the Warner Brothers Ranch Lot.¬† When I found out¬†the seminar was¬†going to be held¬†at the Ranch¬†I swear I almost died!¬† I had heard sometime before that¬†the Friends¬† fountain was located¬†somewhere on¬†the Ranch and¬†I had been¬†trying to figure out a way to get onto the lot to see it in person.¬† Thank you acting school!

When I drove¬†onto the lot early the morning of the seminar, I actually went right past the famous fountain without even realizing it.¬† Walking to¬†the class, my eyes were¬†one hundred percent¬†peeled, looking in all directions for the fountain, but I couldn’t seem to find it.¬† During class, I happened to mention to¬†a friend that I was dying to see the fountain, but had no idea where it was, and she said “You drove right¬†past it when you drove onto the lot!”¬† LOL¬† During our lunch break she led me out to the location of the fountain and we snapped a couple of pics sitting on it and dancing inside of it.¬† Sadly, the pic of me dancing did not come out!¬† ūüė¶¬† But we did get to eat lunch on the lawn right in front of the fountain, and I was pinching myself the whole time!¬†

Until next time, Happy Stalking!¬† ūüôā

Stalk It:¬† The Warner Brothers Ranch Lot is located at 411 North Hollywood Way in Burbank.¬† While there are, sadly, no public tours offered¬†of the Ranch, the fountain is completely visible through the front gates to the left of the guard shack.¬† If you walk down Hollywood Way you can peek through the main gates and snap a quick pic.¬† ūüôā

Jen’s New Digs!

img_1378.jpgJust got a comment¬†from Ann asking if Ms. Jen Aniston still resides in¬†her Malibu rental, the¬†Larry¬†Ellison owned home located¬†on Carbon Beach.¬† Actually, back in December,¬†Jen moved out of that house and into a Hal Levitt designed home, only a block¬†away from Courteney Cox’s new house,¬†in Beverly Hills.¬† I found Jen’s new address on one of my fave stalkings sites, Big Time Listings, and immediately went to go stalk it.¬† Unfortunately, like so many movie star homes, no part¬†of the house is visible¬†from the street- so¬†I had¬†to settle for some Zillow¬†stalking, instead.¬† In the Zillow shot, you can see the extensive remodeling Jen had done to the house before she moved in.

Until next time, Happy Stalking!¬† ūüôā

Stalk It:¬† Jen’s new house is located at 1004 N. Hillcrest Road in Beverly Hills.¬† “Friend” Courteney Cox lives in the same neighborhood at 1012 Wallace Ridge Road, but I have yet to stalk her house.¬† Simon Cowell also lives nearby at 717 N. Palm Drive.
